Lithia Springs has no city government, so plumbing permits come from Douglas County, water and sewer from the Douglasville-Douglas County Water and Sewer Authority (WSA), and natural gas from the Austell Gas System. Plumber Atlanta is a referral line that costs callers nothing; it is not a plumbing business. Call the number on this page to be connected with a local plumber in Lithia Springs.

Plumbing services in Lithia Springs
A former resort town in Douglas County
Lithia Springs began as a health-resort town known for its lithia spring water, and it was a city until residents voted to dissolve the charter in 2000. Now an unincorporated community in northeastern Douglas County, it had 16,644 residents in 2020 and is about 16 miles from downtown Atlanta. Interstate 20 and Thornton Road are the main corridors, with Blair Bridge Road, Lee Road and Mount Vernon Road running through neighborhoods. Sweetwater Creek State Park, with the Manchester Mill ruins, sits on the edge of the community, and several data centers have been built nearby.
Water from the Dog River
WSA describes itself as Douglas County's only water provider. Water is drawn from the Dog River Reservoir in western Douglas County, with Bear Creek Reservoir as a supplement, and treated at the Bear Creek plant using free chlorine. WSA reports that its service line inventory found no lead service lines in its distribution system. Its yearly water quality brochure has the full results.
WSA owns the meter and the lines in the road right-of-way. Everything on the property from the meter to the house, both water and sewer, is the homeowner's. That makes a leak in the front yard or a cracked sewer lateral under the driveway a private repair. For problems on WSA's side, call 770-949-7617 during business hours or 770-942-6633 after hours.
Under WSA's backflow rules, customers must have backflow protection, WSA supplies the device for residential installations, and the device has to be tested every year by a certified tester from WSA's list. Service can be suspended if the report is not turned in.
Permits through Douglas County
Douglas County Building Permits & Inspections, at 4655 Timber Ridge Drive in Douglasville, issues plumbing permits for new and renovation work, lawn irrigation included (770-920-7201; inspection requests 770-920-7333).
Gas and housing
The Austell Gas System lists Lithia Springs among the eastern Douglas County areas it serves. If you smell gas, get out of the house and call 911 or Austell Gas at 770-948-1841, option 1. The median home in Lithia Springs dates to 1987, and about a third were built before 1980, so original water heaters are long gone but older galvanized branches, worn shutoff valves and aging drain lines still show up.
Not the same as Atlanta
In the city of Atlanta, water and permits are both city functions. Here they are split between an independent authority and the county, and gas comes from a municipal system in another city. When you call, explain the problem; you will be connected with an independent plumber who covers Lithia Springs and arrange price and timing with them directly.
