Well Pump Repair in Riverdale, GA

What people notice first

• A shower that won't get past a trickle
• Washing machines that take ages to fill
• Water that hammers or sputters after it comes back on
• A wet patch in the yard between the meter and the house
• A water bill out of line with use

On public water, none of these involve a pump. They point to the supply line, the regulator or the fixtures.

Riverdale's water system

CCWA provides water, sewer and stormwater service throughout Clayton County, drawing mainly from the Little Cotton Indian Creek, Shoal Creek and Pates Creek watersheds, with the Flint River as a supplemental source. CCWA's portion of the service line runs from the main to the meter; the customer owns the line from the meter to the house.

Riverdale was founded as a railroad stop in 1886, just south of the airport. Its median home dates to 1990, and about a third were built before 1980. Older houses in that group may still have galvanized supply pipe, which narrows inside over time and slowly chokes pressure.

A home with a private well will have a casing in the yard and a pressure tank inside. Without those, the pump question is settled and the plumber can focus elsewhere.

Also worth checking: whether the main shutoff valve inside the house or at the crawl space was fully reopened after any recent repair. A valve left a quarter turn closed can mimic a much bigger problem, and it costs nothing to look.

What affects what you pay

• Testing. A pressure reading at the hose bib and meter shows where the loss begins.
• Pipe material. Old galvanized lines may need replacing rather than patching.
• Leak location. Under concrete costs more than under grass.
• Permits. Riverdale Community Development's Building & Permitting Services handles trade permits.

How it works when you call

We're a free referral line, not a plumbing company. You'll speak with an independent plumber who serves Riverdale. Say whether the whole house is affected, when it started and whether there's water pooling outside. A photo of the meter dial or a wet spot in the yard can help the plumber plan the visit.
