In Dallas, the city's backflow program requires assemblies for commercial, industrial and multi-family customers, tested by testers certified under Georgia's statewide program, with testing submitted by April 1. Some Dallas-area addresses are on Paulding County water instead. Call the number on this page to be connected with a local plumber in Dallas.

What happens when you call
You'll be connected with an independent plumber who works in the Dallas area. Start by saying whether you're on city water or Paulding County water and what kind of property it is. Then describe what you need: a test before the city's deadline, a repair after a failed test, or a new assembly for a business or apartment building. If you want the test submitted for you, ask whether the plumber is on the GAWP certified tester list.
What affects the cost
- Number of assemblies and service connections
- Reduced pressure assemblies for high-hazard uses versus double checks
- Rebuild and retest after a failure
- Replacement of a freeze-damaged or obsolete unit
- Permit steps for new installs inside city limits
Dallas water and its backflow program
Dallas is Paulding County's seat, a fast-growing northwest exurb whose population roughly tripled between 2000 and 2020. The City of Dallas runs its own water system, with about 37 miles of lines serving roughly 2,650 customers inside city limits. Paulding County Water System also lists Dallas among its service areas, so some Dallas-area addresses are on county water. Your bill tells you which.
The city's backflow prevention program is aimed at non-residential and shared connections. All commercial and industrial water customers, plus multi-family customers on potable connections, must have backflow assemblies: a reduced pressure principle (RPZ) assembly for high-hazard customers and a double check valve for low-hazard ones. Tests must be done by testers certified under the Georgia Statewide Backflow Prevention Assembly Certification Program, whose list GAWP maintains, and all testing and applications are due by April 1. The city's program page doesn't describe a requirement for single-family homes.
If you're on Paulding County water, the county's backflow program applies instead: testers must be on the GAWP certified list and email their calibration certificates and completed test forms to the county.
Inside city limits, Dallas Community Development issues plumbing permits, with inspections handled through the city (770-443-8110 ext. 1203). Outside the city, Paulding County issues permits.
Before the plumber arrives
- Confirm city or county water from your bill
- List every assembly and connection on the property
- Note the April 1 deadline if you're a city commercial or multi-family customer
- Close the valve feeding a leaking assembly
